The Dance Guard is a unique option for students at Point Loma High School to receive VAPA and PE credit. Dance guard members participate with the Vanguard during the Fall semester, and compete independently during the second semester in Winter Guard competitions. Dance guard is similar to dance, in that students performed a choreographed routine; however, students in Dance guard perform with flags and other equipment in creating a visual interpretation of the music being played. Students in Dance guard should sign up for both Dance guard (6th period) and 7th period Marching Band PE.

Anybody can be a member of the Dance guard--prior musical or dance guard experience is not necessary.  Students who are interested in dance guard should come to an informational meeting and training camp in June. More details about this camp will be available on our website in May.

Rehearsals

• Dance guard meets during the school day, as well as after school twice a week.
• ​The Dance guard is taught by Chance Webb and Sammy Bothwell.
