Message to our Families

Dear Parents, Friends, and Music Lovers,
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year with PLHS Music! I am delighted to serve as the Music Boosters President this year, and encourage all of you to become involved in your student's music education. We are so fortunate that our kids are part of something bigger than themselves, where they are learning teamwork, grit, and a growth mindset, while growing their appreciation for the arts and engagement with our local community. Playing music is a team activity where everyone works together for the good of the group, to create something bigger and more beautiful than they can accomplish alone. If your kid has ever been in sports, you know that an immense amount of time, energy, and money goes towards making a team successful. It is no different in music!
While it would be impossible to put a price tag on the investment our directors and coaches are putting into our kids, we do request a basic participation donation of at least $300 per student, which can be raised from multiple sources (we will even keep track for you, if you like!). Please see our new Membership Levels for more information, including appreciation gifts at each tier. New this year, we are also offering Corporate Sponsorships for local businesses.
In addition, we ask that every family volunteer their time for at least one event, such as: selling (and buying!) spirit wear, driving carpool and/or chaperoning, uniform assistance (this is a big one coming up soon!), providing snacks and meals, organizing restaurant nights, supporting concert concessions, or helping to put together our premiere fundraising Gala, Rhapsody on the Point.
Our kids will become a family over the course of their time in PLHS music, and it is my sincere wish that each and every one of you joins the village that supports and cares for them. The first step is to come to our monthly Music Boosters Meeting (next one is 10/3, 6 pm) to learn more, ask any questions, and let us know how you'll be helping this year. I look forward to seeing you there -- let's team up to make this an amazing year for the students, coaches, and directors!
In partnership,
Stasi McAteer (she/her)
Mom of Maggie, Sophomore Saxophone
