Orchestra is a performing ensemble comprised of string instruments, including violin, viola, cello, and double bass. In Orchestra, students learn how to perform a variety of repertoire, including classical and contemporary orchestra music, and popular soundtracks like How to Train Your Dragon and Studio Ghibli. In the spring, students in the String Orchestra join with select wind and percussion musicians to participate in the Symphony Orchestra. The Orchestra performs at 4-6 concerts and festivals during the school year, and is open to all 9-12 grade students, no prior experience required. Students who complete one year in Orchestra receive Visual and Performing Arts towards graduation and UC/CSU a-g requirements.
